Several Students Fall Ill During Independence Day Programme in Sabroom

Date:

Agartala, 15th August 2026: Several students fell ill while participating in the Independence Day programme at Sabroom Class XII School ground on Saturday, with excessive heat suspected to be the cause.

The students had gathered to participate in the parade organised as part of the subdivision-level celebration of the 80th Independence Day. As the situation developed, the affected students were quickly evacuated and taken to Sabroom Sub-Divisional Hospital, where doctors provided them with primary medical treatment.

The incident briefly created concern at the venue. However, the situation was brought under control after medical assistance was arranged. Despite the intense heat, participants attempted to complete the scheduled parade programme.

MLA of the 39 Manu Assembly constituency Mailafru Mog, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Suman Rakshit and former MLA Shankar Roy were present at the event.
