Agartala, 15th August 2026: The 80th Independence Day was observed across Tripura with patriotic fervour and due dignity through flag hoisting ceremonies, parades, cultural programmes and other events.
In Santirbazar, the subdivision-level celebration was held at the Santirbazar Government Degree College ground. MLA Pramod Reang hoisted the national flag and received the salute from eight parade platoons. He recalled the sacrifices of those who laid down their lives for the country and highlighted various development initiatives of the state and Central governments. Trophies were later presented to the heads of the eight platoons.
In Belonia, the Independence Day programme was held at the Vidyapith Mini Stadium, where Minister Shukla Charan Noatia attended the event and spoke about the country’s freedom struggle.
Khowai also celebrated the 80th Independence Day with enthusiasm. The district administration organised the main programme at Khowai Airport Ground, where Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma hoisted the national flag. The event was followed by the singing of Vande Mataram. The minister highlighted the significance of Independence Day in his address.
In Dhalai district, the main celebration was held at the ground of Kulai Class XII School. Minister Sudhangshu Das hoisted the national flag and received the parade salute. Personnel from the CRPF, Tripura State Rifles, male and female police forces, and Scouts and Guides participated in the parade.
In North Tripura, the district administration organised the main programme at B.B.I. Ground in Dharmanagar. Minister for Industries and Commerce Santana Chakma hoisted the national flag and later addressed the gathering following the parade.
At Sonamura, the Independence Day programme was held at the local playground, where Higher Education and Panchayat Minister Kishore Barman hoisted the national flag and received a guard of honour. He spoke to students and the younger generation about the significance of Independence Day.
In Karbook, the subdivision-level celebration was held at the Panjibam Class XII School ground. Karbook MLA Sanjoy Manik Tripura hoisted the national flag. A parade and march-past were organised, with Sub-Divisional Magistrate Pradip Debbarma and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Gamanjoy Reang among those present.
A large motorcycle rally was also organised by the 18-Suryamaninagar Mandal Yuva Morcha from Anandanagar School ground. Party workers and supporters participated in the rally carrying the national flag. Deputy Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly Ram Prasad Pal was among those present.
In Udaipur, the Gomati district administration organised the main Independence Day programme at the Netaji Subhash Mahavidyalaya premises. Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy hoisted the national flag and spoke about the history of India’s independence.
Teliamura observed the occasion at Bhagat Singh Mini Stadium, where MLA and Chief Whip of the Tripura Legislative Assembly Kalyani Saha Roy hoisted the national flag. The national anthem was sung and the Chief Whip spoke about the significance of Independence Day to the students.
Independence Day was also observed in Kamalpur, where MLA Manoj Kanti Deb hoisted the national flag and spoke about the historical significance of the day. At the Kathalia Block office, MLA Bindu Debnath hoisted the national flag as part of the celebrations.
