Severe Nor’wester Hits Tripura; CM Assures Full Government Support for Affected People

Agartala, 28th April 2026:  Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today stated that the state government is making every possible effort to handle the disaster situation and ensure timely assistance to those impacted by the severe weather.

The state was struck by a powerful nor’wester accompanied by heavy rainfall and strong gusty winds, which caused widespread damage across several districts. Reports include damaged houses, uprooted trees, and disruption of electricity infrastructure, including broken poles, transformers, and overhead wires.

Responding to the situation, the Chief Minister said that district administrations have already been directed to take all necessary steps to manage relief and restoration work. He assured that the government remains fully committed to supporting affected families and restoring normalcy at the earliest.

Meanwhile, authorities have issued a red alert in parts of Tripura as adverse weather conditions continue. Forecasts indicate the possibility of more thunderstorms, heavy rain, and high-speed winds over the next few days, prompting officials to remain on high alert.]
