Agartala, 17th March 2025:   A severe drinking water crisis has gripped the areas of Nutan Bazar, Jatanbari and its surrounding areas leaving residents in distress. The sole water treatment plant in the Garjan Tilla area of Jatanbari has been out of service leading to an acute shortage of potable water for the past three days.

Frustrated residents have expressed their anger towards officials of the Drinking Water and Sanitation (DWS) department and local representatives.

Among the voices of dissent, the husband of Swapna Deb, the in-charge of the Jatanbari Mahila Morcha leveled serious allegations against MLA Ranjit Das. “Despite the dire water crisis in the area for three days, MLA Ranjit Das has shown no concern. Even attempts to contact him over the phone have been unsuccessful,” he stated.

The situation has sparked widespread outrage, with residents demanding immediate action to restore water supply and address the ongoing crisis.
