SFI and TSU hold protest on five demands

Agartala, 31st July 2024 :  Students’ Federation of India (SFI) and the Tribal Students’ Union (TSU) organized a protest march in Agartala voicing a five-point demand. The demands include the withdrawal of the government’s decision to close government schools, the cancellation of the Vidyajyoti scheme, addressing the shortage of teachers in schools and colleges, and reducing the cost of education in both public and private sectors.

The procession began at the Chhatra-Yuva Bhavan here wound its way through various streets of the city. SFI State Secretary Sandipan Deb, who was present at the march criticized the current government’s efforts to close numerous schools. He highlighted the lack of action from teachers in addressing the crisis, which has led to a dire situation for the state’s education system and its students.
