Agartala, 20th January 2025: Leaders of the SFI-TSU Sadar and Dukli divisional committees staged a demonstration in front of Shiksha Bhavan drive today, presenting a 5-point demand list that includes addressing the teacher crisis in schools and colleges and canceling the Vidyajyoti project. Activists from various organizations marched from Paradise Chowmuhani in the capital to Shiksha Bhavan.
SFI State Secretary Sandipan Deb criticized the BJP government’s handling of the education sector. “Since the BJP came to power in Tripura, various government schools have been closed, and the education sector is under continuous attack. About 10,000 teachers have been reduced in various schools, and even colleges lack sufficient teachers. The state’s education system has been in a deplorable state during the BJP government’s tenure,” Deb stated.
The two student youth organizations decided to hold the Shiksha Bhavan drive to address these issues. “We informed the directors of Shiksha Bhavan about this drive in advance, but we have not received any response so far,” Deb added.
The 5-point demands include- preventing the closure of government schools, eliminating the teacher shortage in schools and colleges, canceling the Vidyajoti project, reducing the cost of education and providing regular stipends.
The drive aims to draw attention to the pressing issues in the education sector and urge the government to take immediate action. The activists and leaders are determined to continue their efforts until their demands are met.
