Agartala, 20th January 2025: As part of Police Week celebrations, a 15-year-old girl named Tapashree Chakraborty was appointed as the Superintendent of Police (SP) of West Tripura District for a day on Monday. Tapashree, a resident of Sadhutila area, arrived at the police headquarters in the SP’s car and was greeted with a salute by police personnel.
Tapashree took her place in the SP’s chair and inspected the work of the police across the entire West Tripura district. “On Monday, students were given responsibility in all police stations and SP offices of West Tripura district,” said the actual Superintendent of Police of the West Tripura district Dr Kiran Kumar K. “Today, they learned about police duties and routines. Many students dream of becoming police officers, and today they had that opportunity. This will bring more enthusiasm among the boys and girls.”
He also advised the students to stay away from drugs and focus on their studies to fulfill their and their guardians’ dreams. Throughout the day, school students sat in the Officer-in-Charge’s chair at various police stations in the West district and even wrote case reports. “The main reason behind this initiative is to make boys and girls aware of police work,” he added. “We want them to understand the importance of not taking the law into their own hands and cooperating with the police, especially after an incident.”
The initiative aims to foster a better understanding and relationship between the youth and the police force, encouraging them to consider careers in law enforcement and promoting lawful behavior.
