Agartala, 20th January 2025: An Anganwadi worker Supriya Das is facing the ire of villagers in Paschim Sabroom Gram Panchayat under Satchand RD Block of Sabroom sub-division for allegedly stealing centre’s money and neglecting her duties.
Since January 5, Supriya Das of Daspalli Anganwadi Kendra has reportedly been absent, causing significant disruption to children’s education and nutrition.
Villagers allege that she frequently skips the Anganwadi Kendra, and even when present, leaves to attend to personal chores after signing the register. “This repeated absenteeism affects our children’s learning and well-being,” said a concerned villager.
The situation reached a boiling point this morning when villagers gathered at the Anganwadi Kendra and prevented worker from entering. They demanded her immediate transfer and the appointment of a new worker to ensure the children’s needs are met. “We can’t tolerate this negligence anymore. Our children deserve better,” another villager asserted.
The incident has created considerable excitement in the area as villagers remain steadfast in their demand for a more responsible Anganwadi worker.
