Agartala: January 10. ICA minister Sushanta Chowdhury today said that Self Help Groups are playing an important role in the development of rural economy in the state.
“The government is helping the self-help groups to become self-reliant” said Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Chowdhury at a loan disbursement ceremony held at Agniveena Hall in Jirania today.
He also said on the occasion that the government is working on a specific plan so that even the last person in the state’s marginal towns can be self-reliant.
“Efforts have been made to make one Tripura a better Tripura by involving the people of the state in development. The government is working above politics in implementing development programs and providing public services”, he sad.
Pritam Debnath, Vice Chairman of Jirania Panchayat Samiti spoke among others at the event. Jirania Nagar Panchayat Chairperson Ratan Kumar Das, Vice Chairperson Rita Das, Jiraniaa Panchayat Samiti Vice Chairman Manju Das and others were present.
In the event, Rs 22 lakh were given to 8 self-help groups and Rs 40 lakh to 22 members of self-help groups. Besides, 6 schools of Jirania Nagar Panchayat area were given sports equipment and 23 people were given TUEP cards on the occasion.
