Shiuli Debnath death case: Parents seek justice, alleging murder and delay in probe

Date:

Agartala, 13th June 2026:   The parents of Shiuli Debnath, a resident of Rabi Para, Malaynagar, have alleged that they are yet to receive justice over their daughter’s death on August 1 last year. They have accused her husband Raju Debnath of Gokulnagar Adarsha Colony under Bishalgarh Police Station, along with his parents Gopal Debnath and Karuna Debnath, of conspiring to murder Shiuli.

Shiuli’s parents, Shankar Debnath and Swapna Debnath, stated that they had lodged a written complaint at the Bishalgarh Women’s Police Station (Case No. 14/2025), alleging that their daughter faced harassment and pressure for money after marriage. They claimed that Shiuli was subjected to repeated abuse and that there had been earlier attempts to harm her.

According to the family, Shiuli stayed at her parental home for nearly eleven months before being sent back to her in-laws’ house. They alleged that soon after her return, demands for money resumed and she was killed in a planned manner when the demands were not fulfilled.

The bereaved family has also submitted a written appeal to the Chief Minister seeking a fair investigation and trial. They alleged that despite several months passing, there has been no visible progress in the police investigation and no official communication regarding the case.

Shiuli’s parents have demanded immediate and impartial action against those responsible, seeking justice for their daughter.
