Silent protest by students against heinous crime at Sonamura

Agartala, 5th May 2026:   In a powerful display of grief and outrage, students of Chandanmura Krishna Kumar H.S. School organized a silent march under the initiative of the ABVP Nalchar unit, protesting the brutal rape and murder of a minor girl allegedly by her grandfather.

Carrying placards with strong demands, the students expressed their anger and called for exemplary punishment of the culprits. They also urged the Chief Minister and the Higher Education Minister to order a CBI investigation to ensure impartial and thorough inquiry into the incident.

The silent procession began from the school premises and moved through various village routes, maintaining complete silence as a mark of respect and protest. Former ABVP Joint Secretary Munna Debnath joined the march, along with teachers, local organizations, and women from the community, showing solidarity with the students.

Speakers at the event emphasized the urgent need for strict administrative measures and greater public awareness to prevent such horrific crimes from recurring in society.
