Six Bangladeshi nationals arrested in Sabroom for illegal entry

Agartala, August 30, 2023: The Sabroom Police Station staff arrested six Bangladeshi youths on Wednesday for crossing the border and staying in a tea garden area of Sabroom without valid documents.

The police said that the home of these youths is in Chittagong, Bangladesh and they are being interrogated for their motive of entering India.

According to SI Dhruba Majumdar of Sabroom Police Station, the police received a secret tip-off that several Bangladeshi nationals had crossed the border and were hiding in the small tea garden area of Sabroom.

The police personnel in plain clothes raided the area and chased the suspects who tried to flee after sensing the presence of the police. After a long chase, the police managed to nab six Bangladeshi youths and brought them to Sabroom police station.

The police have registered a case against the arrested youths under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Foreigners Act. The police are also investigating whether the youths have any links with any anti-national or criminal elements.
