Agartala, September 12, 2022: The College of Fisheries, CAU (I) organized a 6-days Skill Training programme on “Hands on Breeding and Seed Production of Carps and Catfishes” under Skill Training of Rural Youth (STRY), in association with Tripura State Agricultural Management & Extension Training Institute (T-SAMETI) & National Institute of Agricultural and Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad during September 12 to 17 at its campus at Lembucherra.
The focus of the training was to encourage and boost the entrepreneurial mindset to the unemployed youth of the state. At the outset, Dr Sagar C Mandal, HOD, Department of Fish Genetics and Reproduction welcomed the participants and briefed the benefits of the training.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. R.K. Saha, Dean of the college highlighted the importance of fish culture and sighted the need for self-employment among youth. Shyam Dhar Dubey, Assistant General Manger, State Bank of India, Agartala, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He pointed out the opportunities for financial scheme from the State Bank for the needy farming community. During the six-days, class lecture along with the practical demonstration of carp and catfish seed production will be organized. The programme was coordinated by Dr Janmejay Parhi and Dr Anindya S Barman, Assistant Professors of the college. The programme was attended by 28 fish farmers of West Tripura District.
