Agartala Jan 11: Social Welfare and Social Education Department Minister Santana Chakma released a booklet detailing information about the achievements of the department under BJP-led state government amid a press conference here on Wednesday.
The Minister officially released two booklets in Bengali and English and presented some statistics of developmental success. Addressing the press, Santa Chakma said that the department has implemented many programs during the current government. Several new projects have also been launched.
“Provision of nutritious food has been made through Poshan Abhiyan. Smartphones were provided to supervisors and workers for easy implementation of the plans. Two eggs, gram, chana, khichuri is being provided every week in the supplementary nutrition program for children enrolled in Anganwadi centres”, she said.
Besides, special food is being provided for severely malnourished children, added Chakma. “A new scheme has been launched for pregnant mothers called Mukhya Mantri Matrupushti Upahar under which the beneficiaries are getting Rs 2,000 directly”, she added.
Referring to the programs undertaken by the government for the welfare of elderly and women citizens, Santana said, “Earlier a one- stop centre for women was functioning in the state, but currently it is functioning in all 8 districts. Mobile helpline number 181 has been launched. 33 percent reservation for women in employment and 50 percent in distribution of government market stalls has been introduced”.
She further said that a new policy called ‘Tripura State Policy for Empowerment of Women 2022’ has been launched. So far 1 lakh 993 pregnant women are getting financial assistance of Rs 5,000 in 3 instalments under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Bandana Yojana.
The Social Welfare Minister further said that the state government has increased the social allowance by Rs. 2,000 as promised. Besides, 30,000 new beneficiaries will be provided social allowance in the state.Talking about the welfare of Divyangjans in the state, the minister said that special Unique Disability ID are issued for the disabled in Tripura. 4 percent reservation has been introduced for Divyangjans in recruitment and promotion in government jobs since 2019. Apart from that, with the aim of creating a drug free Tripura, the Department of Social Welfare and Social Education has launched various welfare rehabilitation projects in coordination with other departments.
4 Working Women’s Hostels are being set up so that working women do not face difficulties at work. Other than the Minister, Social Welfare and Social Education Department Secretary Tapas Roy and Director Smita Mall were present in the press conference.
