Agartala, 17th November 2026: The Directorate of Skill Development, Government of Tripura, has rolled out the pilot phase of the Soft Skills and Interview Preparedness (SSIP) programme, aimed at boosting employability among students of government degree colleges across the state, officials confirmed.
The SSIP initiative, introduced under the broader English, Entrepreneurship and Employability (EEE) programme, seeks to enhance communication skills, workplace etiquette, and interview readiness.
In its pilot phase, the programme will cover 200 students from government degree colleges and will be conducted entirely online to ensure wider accessibility. The course is structured into 28 concise sessions, each lasting 20 minutes.
Officials said the modules are designed to be practical and interactive, focusing on confidence-building, professional conduct, and aligning student skill sets with industry expectations.
Following the pilot, the government plans to expand the programme to reach nearly 900 students across Tripura.
The SSIP is part of Tripura’s push to integrate language proficiency, entrepreneurship awareness, and job readiness into higher education. Authorities expect the initiative to complement existing skill development schemes by addressing gaps in soft skills that often hinder graduates’ employment prospects.
The Directorate of Skill Development is implementing the programme in collaboration with higher education institutions. Feedback from the pilot will be used to refine the course before its wider rollout.
Officials added that the state has been prioritizing digital delivery of training programmes to ensure access for students in both urban and rural areas, particularly those with limited opportunities for in-person learning.
