Son beats father to death, flees from hospital

Agartala, September 08, 2023: A man was arrested for allegedly killing his father by beating him up in a drunken rage in Tripura on Wednesday night. The incident took place at Debram Thakurpara area under Bodhjungnagar police station. The deceased has been identified as Govinda Das, while the accused has been named as Santosh Das.

According to the police, Santosh Das came home drunk from a neighboring house and started abusing his family members. His father, Govinda Das, tried to discipline him, but Santosh Das attacked him with a stick. The other family members tried to intervene, but they were also injured by Santosh Das. The police were informed about the incident and they reached the spot.

The police rescued Govinda Das and Santosh Das and took them to GB Hospital for treatment. However, Govinda Das succumbed to his injuries at around 2 am on Thursday. The police handed over his body to his family after post-mortem on Friday. The family members were grief-stricken and demanded justice for Govinda Das.

The police said that Santosh Das was a drug addict and had been causing trouble at home for the last 3-4 years. He had a criminal record and was facing several charges. He managed to escape from the hospital after hearing about his father’s death. The police have launched a manhunt to nab him. They have registered a case of murder against him at the Bodhjungnagar police station.
