Agartala, 22nd March 2025:  A tragic incident took place last night in the ward number two area of Sarojini Tea Garden under the Chandipur assembly constituency, where a son allegedly killed his mother and left another person critically injured. The accused Malen Chasha has been arrested by the police, while the injured individual Subal Bauri is undergoing treatment at the district hospital in critical condition.

According to Kailashahar Police Station OC Sukanta Sen Chowdhury, Yashoda Chasha, a resident of the area had been in a romantic relationship with Subal Bauri for several years. On the night of the incident, Subal visited Yashoda’s house when no one else was present. Malen Chasha, Yashoda’s son returned home intoxicated and found them in what he deemed an objectionable situation. Enraged, Malen attacked his mother with a wooden object, causing severe head injuries that led to her collapse. He then assaulted Subal Bauri, leaving him gravely injured.

Locals rushed the victims to Unakoti District Hospital where Yashoda Chasha succumbed to her injuries earlier today. Amal Urang, a resident of the same area filed a written complaint against Malen Chasha leading to his arrest. The case has been registered as number 15/2025.

OC Sukanta Sen Chowdhury confirmed that Malen Chasha will be presented before the District Sessions Court this afternoon. Meanwhile, the police have launched an investigation into the incident, which has sparked intense tension in the area.
