Agartala, 17th July 2024: In a heartbreaking turn of events at Ratanpur village in Khowai District, a family has been shattered by a devastating loss. Early Wednesday morning, residents were horrified to discover the lifeless body of Parbati Jhara (55), her head gruesomely severed from her body. Her younger son, Haricharan Jhara (26), was found beside her, holding a dao, a witness to the aftermath of a tragic altercation.
Krishan Mohan Jhara, the elder son, recounted the chilling discovery: “After a quiet evening, we awoke to a scene of unimaginable horror. Our mother, Parbati, had been fatally injured, and my younger brother was there, visibly distraught.”
Authorities swiftly responded to the distressing scene following the family’s frantic call. Sub-divisional Police Officer Prasun Kanti Majumder and Officer In Charge Subir Malakar, accompanied by senior officials, arrived promptly to investigate the incident.
Preliminary investigations have revealed a heated dispute between Haricharan and his mother, leading to this tragic outcome. The police have taken Haricharan into custody, recovered the body for postmortem examination, and are continuing their inquiries into this deeply distressing incident that has stunned the local community.
