Agartala, 12th December 2024:   Assembly’s Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen strongly criticized the Communist party during a rally held in front of Sonartari Mukta Mancha in Kalyanpur today. The rally commemorated the martyrs of the horrific massacre that occurred on December 12, 1996, stone throwing distance from Kalyanpur Police Station, where 26 lives including children were tragically lost.

“The worst political party in the world is the Communist Party,” Sen declared, emphasizing the rise of extremism and violence during the Left era. He urged the people to remain vigilant to prevent the communists from returning to power in Tripura.

Local MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury and Teliamura MLA Kalyani Saha Roy along with BJP leaders Somen Gope, Asim Debroy, Chayan Roy and Indrani Debbarma attended the rally. The guests collectively paid tribute to the martyrs and observed a moment of silence.

Sen highlighted the lack of commemorative programs during the Left era, contrasting it with the current ruling party’s annual rallies on December 12 to honor the martyrs. “We must remember the sacrifices made and ensure that such atrocities never happen again,” he stated.

The chief guests expressed their views against terrorism and praised the government’s continuous efforts to support the people through development initiatives. “Development is our tool to stand by the people and ensure their well-being,” said MLA Kalyani Saha Roy.

The rally saw remarkable participation and spontaneity from the common people across various areas under the Kalyanpur Pramodnagar BJP mandal, reflecting the community’s commitment to remembering the martyrs and supporting the government’s efforts.
