State govt launches E- rickshaw for Sepahijala zoo

Agartala: December 30. The state government has observed the 50th anniversary of Sepahijala Zoo and inaugurated the Clouded Leopard Festival.

Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma has inaugurated the program organized at Sepahijala picnic spot. Sepahijala District President Supriya Das Dutta, MLA Birendra Kishore Debbarma were also present.

Ten e-rickshaws from the zoo’s revolving fund were introduced for the first time on this day’s occasion for the convenience of tourists in the state through the Eco Development Committee. There will be no problem for animals and tourists will be able to visit different enclosures by e-rickshaw. A total of 33 officers of various ranks and 23 workers, including retired forest officers, were felicitated on the occasion.

 Also present on the occasion were Department Principal Secretary KS Shetty, Additional PCCF PL Agarwal, Sepahijala District Forest Officer Pritam Bhattacharya and others. Deputy Chief Minister said that the zoo is full of natural beauty and attracts a large number of tourists every year. The department has taken initiatives to attract more tourists. Attempts are being made to bring more animals and birds to the new extinct species. It is our duty to improve and protect its beauty. This zoo is the wealth of Sepahijala district as well as the state. Slowly this zoo has become famous. Its reputation and tradition should be maintained.
