State-level training camp held on National Panchayat Award 2022

Agartala, September 04, 2022: A one-day state-level training camp on reconstituted National Panchayat Awards 2022 was held at Agartala Town Hall today. The Panchayat department organizes this training camp. Panchayat office Director Devananda Reang inaugurated this training camp.

Addressing the training camp, Rural Development (Panchayat) department Special Secretary Dr Sandeep R Rathore said “The Ministry of Rural Development will award the 3-tier panchayats for their work on a total of 9 themes at the panchayat, block, district, state and national levels from this year. These 9 themes are Poverty-Free and Prosperous Panchayats, Healthy Panchayats, Child Friendly Panchayats, Drinking Water Independent Panchayats, Clean and Green Panchayats, Panchayats with Self-sufficient Infrastructure, Socially Secure Panchayats, Well-governed Panchayats and Women Friendly Panchayats. The Government of India has taken this initiative with the aim that these 9 themes can be fulfilled in every panchayat and village of the country by the year 2030.

He urged all the Block Officers, Additional Block Officers and other level employees to work with integrity and dedication to properly implement these 9 themes and the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin Scheme.

On the occasion, Panchayat department Director Devananda Reang said that the government and Panchayat Department have taken initiatives to implement these 9 themes in the state.

Additional Director of Panchayat department Prasun Dey, who participated in the technical session of the training camp elaborated on these 9 themes through PowerPoint presentation. He said that there are total 1,176 panchayat and village committees in the state. This year, a total of 84 awards will be given at the state level in the three-tier panchayat system. Tripura ranks fourth in terms of receiving awards at the national level in the 3-tier panchayat system. Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Jharkhand and Sikkim are ranked 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively. He gave detailed information about Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Satat Bikas Award, Nanaji Deshmukh Best Panchayat Satat Bikas Award, Gram Urja Swaraj Bikas Panchayat Award etc.

Besides, Deputy Director of Panchayat department Joydip Chakraborty, Panchayat Research Development Officer Hillol Das and Panchayat Research Development Officer Anupam Das participated in the discussion. The welcome address was given by Joint Director of Panchayat department Kamlesh Dhar. Additional District Magistrates, Panchayat Officers, Panchayat Extension Officers, Rock Officers, Additional Block Officers, Auditors and Supervisors of 6 districts of West, Khowai, Sepahijala, Gomati, South and Dhalai of the state participated in the training camp.
