CM attends Ramkrishna Mission’s 125th anniversary celebration at Viveknagar

Agartala, September 04, 2022: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Sunday urged the Ramakrishna Mission to take initiative in setting up of an university in the state.

While inaugurating the 125th year celebration of Ramakrishna Mission and ‘Azadi Ka Amrita Mahotsav’ held at the premises of Ramakrishna Mission, Viveknagar in the outskirts of Agartala city, Dr Saha said “Ramakrishna Mission is admirable for its discipline and this mission is the craftsman of man-building. This Mission is steadily doing the work of developing the future generation of this state as people with human values. This institution is working to inculcate the inherent sense of unity of the people as well as to keep the people of the state united. The Ramakrishna Mission of our state, like the well-known Ramakrishna Mission at Belurmath, has extended its helping hand to the poor and distressed people.” He said that the pattern of reading and training of the students of this Ramakrishna Mission school is very different from others.

In the event, the Chief Minister said that the people of the state want peace and harmony. Ramakrishna Mission is working in that direction. Incidentally, he mentioned the distribution of food packets to 50 people living on the footpath every day in the Sarada Annabhandar project under the initiative of Ramakrishna Mission.

The Chief Minister said that this initiative of Ramakrishna Mission will accelerate this work as the present state government is working to reach the benefits of the government responsibly to the last person of the society. He mentioned the initiatives of Ramakrishna Mission in the state, such as providing treatment and medicines through charitable dispensaries, free mobile medical services, and various services during the COVID pandemic, distribution of blankets and clothes, providing scholarships etc.

Union minister of state for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhoumik was present on the occasion. Swami Subhakarananda, Principal and Secretary of Viveknagar’s Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission gave the welcome speech. Belurmath Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission Assistant General Secretary Swami Tattavidanandaji Maharaj, former Judge and Tripura Human Rights Commission Chairman Swapan Chandra Das, Dhaleshwar Ramakrishna Mission Secretary Swami Indratmanandaji Maharaj were also present on the occasion.

Ramakrishna Mission monks recited Vedic mantras at the beginning of the program. Inaugural music was performed by children under ‘Gadadhar Abhyudaya Project’. The Chief Minister gave away prizes to the winners of various competitive programs organized on the occasion of the 125th year celebration of Ramakrishna Mission and ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
