Agartala, 3rd March 2024: A three-day State-wide Intensified Pulse Polio Vaccination Program commenced today at Agartala Government College of Nursing, with Health Secretary Kiran Gitte inaugurating the initiative.
The program aims to ensure that every child in the age group of 0-5 years receives the crucial two drops of the polio vaccine, continuing the ongoing victory campaign against polio. Health Secretary Kiran Gitte inaugurated the program and emphasized the significance of administering the polio vaccine to every child in the specified age group. He urged families across the state to actively participate in the campaign, contributing to the eradication of polio.
The event witnessed the presence of key figures in the health sector, including Rajib Dutta, Mission Director of National Health Mission; Dr. Supriya Mallik, Director of Health Department; Dr. Anjan Das, Director of Family Welfare and Disease Prevention Department; DME Harprasad Sharma; Member Secretary of the National Health Mission Nupur Debbarma; Chief Medical Officer of West Tripura District, Dr. Ranjan Biswas, Superintendent of IGM Hospital, Debashree Debbarma, and others. On the occasion, the CMO said that polio doses will be administered to children aged 0-5 years in the state today at the polio vaccination centers. Moreover, those children who cannot be given the polio dose at the polio vaccination center will be given the polio dose from house to house tomorrow and March 5.
