Agartala, 2nd August 2024: A wave of frustration and anger swept through the streets near Swami Vivekananda Maidan in Agartala as unemployed youths staged a protest against the alleged issuance of fake Permanent Resident of Tripura Certificates (PRTC). The demonstrators primarily from Tripura voiced their grievances against individuals from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar accusing them of obtaining jobs through fraudulent means.
“Every year, youths from states like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar come to Tripura and secure jobs by issuing fake PRTC certificates in exchange for 1 to 2 lakh rupees,” said one of the protestors. “This year, they are using the same crooked methods for the SSC GD exam, depriving the local unemployed youth of their rightful opportunities.”
The protestors claimed that these fraudulent activities are not only filling the fixed quota for Tripura but also pushing the local unemployed youth further into despair. “If immediate action is not taken, we will launch a larger movement,” warned another protestor.
The situation escalated to the point where the police from East Agartala police station had to intervene. The police assured the protestors that the matter would be thoroughly investigated, leading to the temporary withdrawal of the protest. However, the underlying issue remains unresolved.
“Outsiders are issuing various certificates, including PRTC, in a crooked way in Tripura,” said a local activist. “Bangladeshi citizens are also illegally entering India and obtaining certificates through brokers. These brokers, often associated with the Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office, are producing fake certificates to exploit the local unemployed.”
The protestors demanded a fair investigation into the matter, emphasizing that such illegal activities are impossible without the involvement of local authorities. “If there is a fair investigation, the whole matter will come to light, and the police can arrest those involved,” they asserted.
The protest highlighted a significant issue affecting the local job market and called for immediate government intervention to ensure fair employment opportunities for the youth of Tripura.
