Agartala: July 03. The Secondary Test for Graduate Teachers (STGT) aspirants today staged a demonstration in front of the residence of Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha demanding to complete the recruitment process immediately.

Today the STGT aspirants gathered in front of the Chief Minister’s residence to meet him. But due to lack of prior permission, they had to return with disappointment as they could not meet the Chief Minister.

Speaking with reporters an agitator said that it has been 10 months since the process of recruitment STGT is stopped and not even published the results.

“The STGT exam was conducted in 2022. Even though 10 months have passed since the examination, the education department has not released the results yet. From Chief Minister to Finance Minister, Education Minister and other Ministers, no initiative was taken to fulfill our demands. Moreover, letters were sent to the Chief Minister 10 to 12 times demanding appointment, but no reply was received”, said the agitators.

They also said that various schools are suffering from a shortage of teachers. Despite this, the education department is not taking any initiative regarding recruitment.

So they again gathered in front of the Chief Minister’s residence today demanding an appointment. But due to a lack of prior permission on that day, the officials of the police administration on security duty at the Chief Minister’s residence stopped them.

They said that for many days they were trying to meet the Chief Minister with their issues but they were unable to meet him and so across the state, they have come here to meet the CM.
