By TC News Desk

Agartala Dec 14: “We are not criminals but educated teachers” says STGT qualified job aspirants. The statement came after more than 40 aspiring teachers were injured after police’s lathi-charge on the agitating youths as the gheraoed in front of the Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath’s residence on Monday last.

On Wednesday while addressing the reporters at the Agartala Press Club, STGT qualified youths sought answers from the police department and asked to give clarification on the incident.

“We want to know under whose instructions police lathi-charged us and why. We were about to leave the place on our own and did not create any trouble then why without any provocation or discussion police injured us during our peaceful agitation”, questioned the STGT job aspirants.

They added, “We wrote letter to the Chief Minister more than 5 times for giving us few minutes of time to meet. In fact, once a delegation of us were made to wait for more than 3 hours but the chief minister did not meet us. But even after that we did not create any problem”.

The aspirants further said, “Whenever we met the Dy CM Jishnu Dev Varma, he told us to talk to the education minister and ask him to send files. But now the education minister is giving us the excuse of ‘Finance crisis’ which the Dy CM never mentioned”.

Sticking to the demand of altogether recruitment in the vacant posts, the STGT qualified candidates urged the state government and the education minister to comply with their promises made to the candidates on earlier occasions.
