Agartala, 24th January 2025:   A straw bale belonging to local resident Khokon Acharya was reduced to ashes in a fire late last night at an area adjacent to the Kanchanmala Primary Health Center narrowly sparing Acharya’s house and rubber garden from the blaze.

It is reported that, Acharya, who resides near the Kanchanmala Primary Health Center under the Golaghati assembly constituency was preparing to retire for the night around midnight when he noticed flames engulfing the straw bale next to his home. Within moments, the fire grew into a fierce conflagration. Acharya and his family immediately raised the alarm, prompting neighbors to rush to their aid.

The Anandnagar fire brigade was swiftly notified and firefighters arrived on the scene with an engine to battle the flames. After an extended effort, the fire was eventually brought under control preventing further damage to the surrounding area.

Speaking to reporters this morning, Acharya expressed his belief that the fire was an act of sabotage, noting that the straw was intended for cow feed. He disclosed that three large piles of straw were stored near his house, of which one was completely consumed by the fire. He credited the timely intervention of the fire department for saving his rubber garden, home, and the remaining two piles of straw from the devastating blaze.
