Agartala, 18th July 2024:  Students of Ambassa English Medium Model School staged a road blockade on Thursday, demanding urgent repairs to the deteriorating road between Ambassa and Lalchari. The incident took place near Ambassa railway station where the road has become perilous due to neglect and lack of maintenance.

The road riddled with large potholes has worsened during the rainy season, with water accumulating in these craters. Pedestrians and vehicles, including those transporting school students, face daily risks. Despite repeated notifications from local residents and schools, the concerned department has yet to address the issue.

DCM Pankaj Datta promptly arrived at the scene after receiving news of the blockade. He engaged with the students and assured them that the road would be repaired expeditiously. The students held the blockade for approximately two hours, disrupting traffic in both directions. Following Datta’s assurance, they finally lifted the blockade around 10 o’clock.
