Agartala, 24th February 2026:  A female student from Tripura, who had gone to Gurgaon for her studies, was allegedly subjected to brutal physical and mental abuse. The incident has sparked outrage among women’s rights groups.

The All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA), a left-leaning women’s organization, sought a meeting with the Chief Minister and the Director General of Police to demand exemplary punishment for the accused. However, officials stated that such a meeting could not be arranged without prior formal communication.

Subsequently, the organization sent separate letters to both the Chief Minister and the DGP through the postal department, urging immediate administrative intervention.

Leaders of AIDWA expressed grave concern over the incident, describing it as deeply alarming. They warned that without strict punishment for the perpetrators, preventing such crimes in the future would be difficult. The organization has called for swift and decisive action from the authorities.
