Students lock PM Shri Marachara HS School gate: Boycott classes in support of teacher

Date:

Agartala, 4th July 2026:   Tension has escalated at PM Shri Marachara Higher Secondary School following allegations of molestation against chemistry teacher Dinamani Sinha, involving a female student. The alleged incident reportedly occurred on June 18, with the student’s family confronting the teacher at the school the next day. However, no formal written complaint has been lodged with the police so far.

Sinha has been on leave since June 19, the day after the confrontation.

Today, students staged a protest in support of Sinha, locking the school’s main gate and boycotting classes. They described him as an “honest and responsible teacher” and claimed he has been framed as part of a conspiracy. The students vowed to continue their boycott until an impartial investigation is conducted and a fair resolution is reached.

Former students also joined the protest, voicing solidarity with Sinha. Meanwhile, a statement from a female student regarding the matter has been recorded.

School Inspector Jhunu Rani Debbarma visited the campus to hold discussions with students and other stakeholders. The local MLA is reportedly monitoring the situation closely, signaling growing administrative attention.

Despite the mounting tension, no formal police case has been registered. As a result, the focus now shifts to whether an administrative or legal inquiry will be initiated to determine the veracity of the allegations.
