Agartala, 30th June 2026: Students of PM SHRI Morachhara Higher Secondary School on Tuesday locked the school gates and boycotted classes in protest against the alleged humiliation of a chemistry teacher accused of misconduct.
The controversy began after a student’s family allegedly accused chemistry teacher Dinmani Sinha of molesting a student on June 18. On June 19, family members reportedly visited the school and publicly confronted and humiliated the teacher. However, no formal complaint was lodged with the police.
Since the incident, the teacher has remained on leave. Students participating in the protest claimed that Dinmani Sinha is a respected teacher and alleged that he had been falsely implicated.
The protesting students demanded a fair and impartial investigation and stated that they would continue their class boycott until the matter is resolved. They argued that if the allegations are found to be false, appropriate legal action should be taken against those responsible for making them.
Following the protest, school inspector Jhunu Rani Debbarma visited the institution and held discussions with the students. The local MLA is also reportedly monitoring the situation.
Students have insisted that verbal assurances are not sufficient and have demanded a proper investigation, warning that false allegations against teachers could negatively affect the educational environment. The outcome now depends on whether a formal inquiry is conducted and what findings emerge from it.
