Students of Ramthakur Pathsala Boys’ HS School block road for teacher shortage, poor facilities

Date:

Agartala, 28th August 2026: Students of Ramthakur Pathsala Boys’ Higher Secondary School staged a road blockade on Pratapgarh Main Road today, protesting against repeated thefts, prolonged electricity and drinking water shortages, and acute teacher scarcity. The demonstration triggered tension in the locality.

According to the students, the school has been facing water and power supply issues for nearly two weeks. Between August 15 and August 28, several thefts occurred, with miscreants allegedly stealing electric wires, CCTV cameras, fans, and other equipment. Despite multiple written complaints to the police, no suspects have been identified, raising concerns over campus security.

The protesters also highlighted the shortage of teachers, claiming that classes are often disrupted and the school is dismissed after the fourth period. Complaints were raised about irregular mid-day meal services, with students and guardians alleging that meals were not served properly for six consecutive days. While the school’s Assistant Headmaster dismissed the mid-day meal allegations as baseless, he admitted to persistent water, electricity, and teacher-related problems.

Angry students and guardians joined the protest, prompting police intervention. The blockade was lifted after officials escorted the students back to the school, where a meeting was held with parents, police, and the school management committee.

Guardians and students insisted that discussions must lead to concrete action. They demanded stronger security measures to prevent thefts, immediate restoration of electricity and water supply, and urgent recruitment of teachers. Their collective appeal was clear: restore a safe and normal learning environment without delay.
