Agartala, August 25, 2023 : Students from Uchaibari High School staged a blockade on the Baikhora Muhuripur road to press for their demand for additional teaching staff on Friday.

The school, which currently enrolls approximately 250 students, is grappling with a severe shortage of teachers, with only eight on the roster. Today, only four teachers were present at the school, severely affecting the students’ academic progress.

Despite numerous challenges, the students are determined to continue their studies under better conditions. Among the issues plaguing the school, students face water seepage into classrooms during the monsoon season, inadequate seating arrangements, and the most pressing concern, a shortage of teachers.

In their protest today, students called for expedited teacher appointments to alleviate these educational woes. The demonstration led to a road blockade, disrupting traffic on the Baikhora Muhuripur road.

The situation eventually de-escalated in the presence of Sub-Inspector Shiv Shankar Saha from the Baikhora police station and local community members. The students withdrew from the road blockade.

Now, all eyes are on the education department to see what steps will be taken to address the pressing issues at Uchaibari High School and enhance the quality of education for its students.
