Agartala, 3rd September : A newly constructed two-storey fish market shed was officially inaugurated today in Dhanpur, Kathalia under the RD Block, marking a significant upgrade in local market infrastructure.
The inauguration ceremony was led by Fisheries Minister Sudhangshu Das, who praised the facility’s modern design and its potential to improve hygiene and trading conditions for both fish vendors and consumers.
The project was implemented under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) with financial assistance from NABARD.
Originally sanctioned on March 11, 2016, with an allocation of Rs 1.5 crore, the project faced delays under the previous administration. Spanning a plinth area of 182 square meters, the shed was scheduled for completion by July 31, 2023, and is now set to serve as a key hub for fish trade in the region.
