Agartala, 1st January 2026 : The 112th birth anniversary of renowned Bengali litterateur, poet and novelist Advaita Mallabarman was observed at the Advaita Atithishala here today. The programme was organized by the Scheduled Castes Welfare department, Government of Tripura.
Minister Sudhangshu Das led the commemoration by offering floral tributes at the marble statue of Mallabarman. The event drew officials, cultural personalities, and admirers who gathered to celebrate the author’s enduring legacy in Bengali literature.
Speaking at the ceremony, Das described Mallabarman as “not only a great novelist but also a symbol of courage and truth,” noting that his works gave voice to the voiceless and continue to resonate today. He emphasized the government’s commitment to preserving and promoting Mallabarman’s writings, adding, “By honoring him today, we reaffirm our responsibility to uphold the values of equality, justice, and humanity that he so passionately wrote about.”
Mallabarman, best remembered for his seminal novel Titas Ekti Nadir Naam, remains a towering figure in Bengali literature, celebrated for chronicling the struggles and resilience of marginalized communities.
