In a significant step toward improving educational infrastructure, the foundation stone for a new concrete building at Fatikroy Higher Secondary School was laid today by SC Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das. The project is overseen by the Department of Rural development, carries a total estimated cost of Rs 9.49 crore, which includes construction, electrification, and other essential works.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Das reiterated the Tripura government’s commitment to prioritizing education and healthcare as pillars of overall development. “For years, the people of Fatikroy have demanded better classrooms and infrastructure for this school. That wait is now coming to an end,” he said, urging the implementing department to maintain quality and adhere to timelines. He also advised the school’s managing committee to monitor the progress regularly.
The event was chaired by Bikasendu Deb, Secretary of the School Management Committee. Minister Das highlighted the accelerated pace of development under the current administration, citing improvements in local schools, Ambedkar College, hostels, and road connectivity in Fatikroy.
Unakoti Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Amalendu Das also addressed the gathering, calling the day a moment of joy for Fatikroy residents. He encouraged collective efforts to enhance the school’s reputation and aesthetics. Additional speakers included District Education Officer Prashanta Kilikdar and Assistant Headmaster Krishnaranjan Pal, who delivered the welcome address.
The ceremony was attended by Sumati Das, Chairperson of Kumarghat Panchayat Samiti; Sushanta Roy, Superintendent of the Rural Development department; Sumita Datta Kar, Head of Fatikroy Gram Panchayat; and social workers Tarun Kumar Das and Manoj Pal Choudhury.
