Sudhangshu visits Khaorabil Fisheries Project at Kailashahar; Interacts with fishermen

Agartala, May 04. Sudhangshu Das, minister of Animal Resource Development and Fisheries departments has been visiting various fish and animal farms across the state since he assumed the charge of a member in the state cabinet.

Minister Das visited the Khaorabil Fisheries Project at Kailashahar in Unakoti district on Thursday after a review meeting at Unakoti circuit house yesterday. The minister even visited the temple of 14 gods. The minister was welcomed by fishermen and people of the area while visiting Khawrabil.

At present, Khaorabil Fishery Project is the largest fishery center in Unkoti district. This project covers an area of about 100 acres. The fish of this Khaorabil satisfies the residents of Kaila. He visited the project for the first time after becoming the Minister and held a meeting with the Fish farmers. The minister inquired about what benefits the religious people have received and what facilities are currently needed.

A member of the Panchayat Samiti and a fisherman of the area, Durlav Nama, handed over a memorandum to the minister with the ten-point charter of demands from the end of fishermen. The minister assured the fishermen after receiving this memorandum that he will send the demands contained in this royal letter to the various departments and read the demands under his department.

Among the fishermen, the fish food production machine worth 30 lakhs will be given from the fisheries department. Out of this, the sub city will get 18 lakhs. Minister Das said the remaining Rs 12 lakh will be borne by the association.

The minister’s message is that the fish of this Khaorabil should be produced twice. The government and the department are on their side.

DM TK Chakma was with the minister during the day’s visit. Md Muslim Uddin, Director of the Fisheries department. Principal Secretary ARD Department BS Mishra, SDM Pradeep Sarkar, Municipal Council Chairperson Chapla Rani Debroy, Vice-Chairperson Nitish Dey, Unakoti Zilla Parishad Member Md. Badruzzaman and others were present. During the day, there was enthusiasm among the people of the area.

Locals complained to the minister that the boating competition was organized earlier, but was stopped for last two years and urged to start the competition again. The Minister expressed hope that Khaorabil will be focused on developing a tourist centre. The people of the area were discussed for about an hour.
