Agartala, January 18: In the past 48 hours, Tripura has witnessed a concerning surge in COVID-19 infections, with 14 new cases reported. According to the latest health department bulletin, the state conducted a total of 656 tests, comprising 205 samples through RT PCR and 451 through rapid antigen testing. The daily infection rate has climbed to 2.64 percent, raising the number of active cases to 21. Fortunately, seven individuals successfully recovered from the virus, offering a glimmer of hope amid the escalating numbers. The health department’s report revealed that the new cases were distributed across various districts, with 9 infections in West Tripura, 3 in Unakoti, 1 in Sepahijala, and 1 in North district. However, there were no new reported cases in the remaining four districts.
The cumulative impact of the pandemic in Tripura now stands at 108,070 confirmed cases. Impressively, 107,046 individuals have triumphed over the virus, showcasing a commendable recovery rate of 99.05 percent. Unfortunately, 940 lives have been lost to the virus in the state.
