Sushanta Chowdhury hails BJP’s surge in Majlishpur amidst historic Left-Congress alliance

Agartala, April 12: The political scenario of Majlishpur has undergone a significant transformation. The assembly constituency, once marred by a 35-year history of violence under the Left’s rule, is now witnessing a surge in support for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). During the Left’s tenure, Majlishpur became a symbol of political strife, with numerous Congress loyalists suffering targeted attacks and arson for their beliefs.

However, in a recent development, the Congress has seemingly forgotten its turbulent past with the CPIM and has entered into an alliance with its former adversary. This move has been met with criticism, as it stands in stark contrast to the BJP’s efforts to usher in a new era of progress for Majlishpur and the state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dedication to the comprehensive development of India, particularly the Northeastern region, has been a driving force behind this shift. Sushanta Chowdhury, the current MLA of Majlishpur and Food Minister, has been vocal in his support for the BJP, urging voters to grant decisive victories to the party’s candidates in the upcoming elections.

At a rally supporting Biplab Kumar Deb, the BJP’s candidate for the West Tripura constituency, Minister Chowdhury celebrated the joining of 404 voters from 117 families previously affiliated with the CPIM. He highlighted the importance of peace for development and contrasted the current peaceful governance under the BJP with the tumultuous past under the Left.

Minister Chowdhury also criticized the Left for its alleged attempts to hinder the state’s progress and for its history of political violence and suppression of dissent. He condemned the Left’s treatment of women and praised Prime Minister Modi’s inclusive development policies, such as Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra and ‘Prati Ghore Sushasan’.

As the election draws near, Minister Chowdhury calls on BJP members to stay alert and rally around the party’s lotus symbol, representing true progress. The growing support for the BJP, as evidenced by the recent defections, signals a change in the political tide, with the party symbolizing hope for a better future.

Chowdhury stands as a fervent advocate for his constituents’ aspirations, challenging the forces of stagnation and advocating for change. His commitment to development is a beacon for those seeking a new direction in the political narrative of Majlishpur.
