Agartala, April 12: Biplab Kumar Deb, the BJP candidate for the West Tripura parliamentary constituency, made striking allegations against former Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Sarkar. Deb accused Sarkar of sending MP Jitendra Chowdhury to Delhi amidst allegations of involvement in the ginger scam, thwarting Chowdhury’s aspirations to become the state’s chief minister.
The rally, held in Suknacherra area of South Taibandal under Dhanpur assembly constituency, saw Biplab Kumar Deb and Union Minister of State Pratima Bhowmik as the main speakers on Friday.
Deb launched scathing criticism against the communist regime, asserting that despite their claims of a “Golden Age” in Tripura for the past 25 years, the reality was far from it. He challenged the communists’ narrative, emphasizing the lack of progress for the people of Tripura while questioning Manik Sarkar’s self-proclaimed status as the “poorest Chief Minister in the world.” Deb also lambasted Jitendra Chowdhury, the CPIM State Secretary, during his address, alleging misconduct.
Pratima Bhowmik joined in, claiming that the opposition lacked a credible report card and was merely engaging in baseless rhetoric.
The rally took a national perspective when Pratima Bhowmik invoked Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s performance report for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, attributing BJP’s success to its substantial achievements rather than empty promises.
Further, the BJP representatives highlighted development disparities under the previous regime, particularly in Dhanpur assembly constituency. They pointed out the lack of basic amenities like drinking water, asserting that improvements had been made since the BJP came into power.
The event saw the presence of various BJP karyakartas, including MLA Bindu Debnath, MLA Jitendra Majumder, MDC Padmaloshan Tripura, along with a substantial gathering of BJP supporters and the public.
