Sushanta Emphasizes Vital Role of College of Fisheries in Advancing Fisheries Sector in state

Agartala, 3rd October 2023:   Food, Civil Supplies, and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury stated today that the College of Fisheries plays a crucial role in providing high-quality education and cultivating human resources for the advancement of the fisheries sector.

Minister Chowdhury took part in a grand event held on the premises of the University to commemorate the ‘Silver Jubilee Festival’ of the College of Fisheries, which is affiliated with the esteemed Central Agricultural University at Lembuchara.

After visiting various events on the college campus, Minister Chowdhury remarked, “I am genuinely impressed by the comprehensive understanding of the various activities and accomplishments of this College of Fisheries at the national level. The establishment of the College of Fisheries as the 12th Fisheries College in the country, situated on our state’s campus, has significantly benefited the North Eastern States”.

He extended his congratulations to the Vice Chancellor, Dean, and all the involved members of the College of Fisheries for successfully completing 25 years of excellence and expressed his best wishes for the College’s continued success in the years ahead.

“Since its establishment, the college has consistently been at the forefront of meeting the requirements of fisheries development in the state as well as in other North Eastern states. As an academic institution, the college continues to play a vital role in delivering high-quality education and building human resources to advance the fisheries sector. The standard of education in this college is commendable,” remarked Sushanta.

He noted that the college’s dedication to developing critical research and technology-driven practices for underprivileged farmers in advancing fisheries in the region has also garnered praise.

Furthermore, he stated that numerous ongoing projects on this campus are directly benefiting numerous fish farmers in the state. This Central College of Fisheries concentrates on empowering fish farmers, rural youth, and aspiring entrepreneurs across Northeast India through extensive outreach and engagement efforts.
