Agartala, 9th February 2024 : Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury and Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy chaired a preparatory meeting today for the inauguration of a park constructed around the traditional Jagannath Dighi of Udaipur.
Speaking to reporters later, Minister Chowdhury revealed that Rs 16 crores have been expended over three phases to refurbish the traditional Jagannath Dighi of Udaipur.
“The park’s inauguration is imminent. Today, we held a preparatory meeting for the opening, conducted in the conference hall of Gomati Zilla Parishad office, with the presence of Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy. Subsequently, both Tourism Minister and Finance Minister, along with others, inspected the ongoing renovation and beautification work at Jagannath Dighi,” he stated.
Chowdhury emphasized the historical significance of Jagannath Dighi, stating that it holds many ancient and historical testimonies.
“In 2018, after the formation of the BJP-IPFT government in Tripura, the then Tourism Minister Pranajit Singha Roy initiated the construction of the park. The work has been carried out in three phases over a considerable period. A total expenditure of Rs 16 crores has been incurred. The park’s inauguration will be officiated by Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha. Some pending work will be completed soon. It is poised to become a noteworthy tourist destination, and in the future, we plan to focus on further developing this park,” he added.
Chowdhury also mentioned plans to allocate more funds for the park’s development in the coming days, with contributions from both the central and state governments.
