Sushanta Seeks Centre’s Backing for New Projects in Meeting with Sitharaman

Agartala, 24th September 2025 :   Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury today met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi to push for greater central support in strengthening the state’s tourism sector.

Chowdhury briefed Sitharaman on the Tourism Department’s current initiatives and outlined a set of proposed projects aimed at showcasing Tripura’s cultural and natural assets. He requested central assistance to accelerate their implementation.

“The Hon’ble Union Finance Minister assured me of all possible cooperation for the development of tourism in Tripura,” Chowdhury said after the meeting.

He was joined by senior officials, including the Secretary and Director of the Tourism Department, during the discussions. The state government hopes that the engagement will open doors to fresh investment in tourism infrastructure, which it sees as a critical driver of economic growth and job creation in Tripura.
