Agartala, 31st December 2024: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sepahijala, CAU (I), Tripura organized Swachhata Pakhwada during December 16th to 31st at different villages of the district (Sepahijala). The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr Anupam Mishra, Vice-Chancellor, CAU, Imphal. The main objective of this programme to raise awareness of cleanliness and sanitation drive, safe and sustainable sanitation, recycling of waste water, safe disposal of waste, utilization of organic waste, polythene free campus, promoting clean and green technologies, awareness through cleaning of public place, and shramdhan on cleanliness, curb on single use plastic, Swachhata walkathons, by means of drawing competition etc. The programme was organized under the technical guidance of Dr. A.K. Mohanty, Director, ATARI, Zone-VII, Umiam, Meghalaya, Prof. Ph. Ranjit Sharma, Director of Extension Education, CAU (I), Manipur, Prof. Arun Bhai Patel, Dean, College of Fisheries, CAU (I), Lembucherra, Tripura and supervision of Dr. Shatabhisa Sarkar, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Sepahijala, Tripura.
The programme was headed by Pijush Debbarma, Programme Assistant, of KVK Sepahijala, Tripura and others skilled support staff’s help to sanitized the villages, and institutes, on the 1st day started with displaying banner at public place and followed by office and villages, cleaning market and public places. On 23rd December 2024, Farmers Day (National Kisan Diwas) was celebrated, on this that day Sanjib Debbarma, Deputy Director of Horticulture, Bishalgarh, Sepahijala, Himanish Laskar Superintendent of Agriculture, Bishalgarh, Swapan Kr. Debbarma, Superintendent of Agriculture, Jampuijala, Sudhir Debbarma, Agriculture Officer, Takarjala Agri. Sector attended the programme and address the farmers for this occasion “national farmers day” and Dr. Mukesh Sehgal, Pricipal Scientist , ICAR-NCIPM shared his thoughts related to how research institute working for them, Kisan Diwas was Coordinated by Dr. Utpal Dey, SMS (Plant Protection). He also address the farmers, encouraged for scientific cultivation, organic farming. Among the activity, shramdhan by KVK staff, cleaning of public place, drawing competition related to swachhata, visiting of composting unit, community cleaning of garden, awareness on waste to wealth, Swachhata walkathon was organized. A total of 4 villages were covered during the activity and total 148 nos participants engaged.
