Agartala, 27th September 2025: Subhashnagar Higher Secondary School observed the “Swachhta Abhiyan – 2025” with due dignity and enthusiasm from 16th to 30th September. The fortnight-long programme comprised a series of meaningful activities, beginning on 16th September with a Swachhta Pledge taken by students, teachers, and staff members.
On Swachhta Awareness Day, a parent–teacher meeting and a discussion with the School Management Committee were held, highlighting cleanliness, sanitation, the importance of handwashing, as well as water conservation and rainwater harvesting. On Green School Drive Day, students were sensitized about water conservation, preventing wastage of drinking water, and protecting the environment. On this day, students also expressed their creativity through posters, slogans, and artwork.
The teachers and the NSS Programme Officer reached out to the adopted village to raise awareness among the local community on cleanliness, the use of toilets, waste management, water conservation, and the Jal Shakti Abhiyan. Students were given hands-on training in proper handwashing with soap and were made aware of the prevention of water-borne diseases.
On Swachhta Participation Day, various competitions such as drawing, essay writing, slogan writing, and model making were organized at the school. The Personal Hygiene Day was also observed, during which NSS volunteers visited the adopted village to spread awareness on hygiene practices, including nail cutting, wearing clean clothes, brushing teeth, and proper toilet etiquette.
On 27th September, Swachhta Exhibition Day was organized at the school, where students’ paintings, slogans, essays, and models were displayed. Parents, local community members, and invited guests actively participated in the exhibition. The event was graced by the Assistant Headmistress, Mrs. Rama Dewan Mog, the Secretary of the Teachers’ Council, Mr. Jayanta Saha, along with other teachers and staff members.
In the coming days, Swachhta Action Plan Day will be observed, during which the School Management Committee, Junior Red Cross, Eco Club, and NSS Unit will hold a small group meeting to prepare an action plan for future cleanliness initiatives. On 30th September, the Prize Distribution Ceremony will be held at the school, where participants and winners of the competitions will be awarded prizes and certificates.
The two-week-long Swachhta Abhiyan was successfully conducted under the supervision of the NSS Programme Officer Raju Roy with the active cooperation of teachers and students. The local community highly appreciated the social initiatives undertaken by the NSS Unit of the school.
