Agartala, July 22, 2023:  Tripura Cricket Association (TCA), though well-known for its past glory, is currently embroiled in a bitter internal feud that has tarnished its reputation. The conflict involves two factions, one led by Tapon Lodh, the President of TCA, and the other led by Timir Chand, the Vice-President, along with several other key members.

One faction has accused the other of illegitimate practices and corruption, leading to a recent incident where a lock was reportedly broken at the TCA office. Allegations of malpractice and misconduct have marred the association’s credibility, prompting authorities to intervene.

In response to the escalating tensions, law enforcement officials, accompanied by a significant police and TSR (Tripura State Rifles) presence, have allowed members of one faction to enter the TCA office premises, ensuring their safety on Saturday.

Despite efforts to maintain order, supporters from both sides have clashed near the TCA office, exchanging heated words and escalating the situation. Tempers flared, and the situation turned tense. The police were quick to respond, aiming to de-escalate the situation and urging everyone to maintain calm.

Tapon Lodh, President of TCA, stated that he is not aware of the recent incident, asserting that a proper investigation is required to ascertain the truth behind the allegations. He also mentioned that the decision to investigate the various claims raised by different clubs was taken during a recent General Body meeting.

Authorities have received a proposal from the state government to conduct an impartial investigation into the allegations before taking further action. Until the conclusion of the investigation, Tapas Ghosh, Timir Chandra, and others involved will not be allowed entry into the TCA office.

The ongoing conflict has left TCA’s fate hanging in the balance, as the association’s reputation suffers from one controversy after another. The supporters outside the office are anxiously waiting to see how the situation unfolds.
