Agartala, 9th June 2025:  A tragic accident shook the Golaghati Bazar area under the Takarjala police station on Monday as a schoolteacher lost his life after being struck by a speeding vehicle. The incident took place on the Takarjala-Jampuijala road near the Kali temple leaving locals in shock.

The victim has been identified as Kartik Das, a resident near SB School in Madhya Ghaniamara, was on his way home from school riding his scooty when a rubber-laden Bolero vehicle lost control and collided with him. Witnesses reported that the vehicle was traveling at high speed when it struck Das, throwing him onto the road in a critical condition. “We heard a loud crash and rushed to the spot, but the vehicle had already fled,” said one local resident.

Upon receiving the news, bystanders rushed to Das’ aid and transported him to Bishalgarh Subdivisional Hospital, where doctors on duty pronounced him dead. “Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries upon arrival,” stated a hospital staff member.

Authorities are investigating the hit-and-run, and efforts are underway to trace the vehicle. Meanwhile, the deceased’s body remains in the hospital’s morgue, with grieving family members arriving shortly after hearing the news. “We demand strict action against the culprit,” said one distraught relative.

The police have urged witnesses to come forward as they intensify their probe into the accident. Residents have also called for stricter traffic regulations on the route to prevent further tragedies.
