Agartala, 8th November 2025: Tensions flared at Thapidayal High School on Saturday morning after a transfer notice was issued for one of its three teachers, triggering widespread outrage among students, parents, and local residents. The school, operating under the Teliamura School Inspector’s jurisdiction, briefly resembled a battleground as demonstrators locked the school gate and staged a protest.

The school currently serves approximately 86 students but has only three teachers to manage daily instruction. The announcement of the transfer of an experienced female teacher prompted immediate backlash, with parents and students expressing fears over the deteriorating quality of education.

In a dramatic show of dissent, protesters blocked the Teliamura–Ghilatali road, halting traffic for over an hour. Police from Teliamura station arrived at the scene and engaged with the demonstrators. The blockade was lifted following police intervention, but discontent continues to simmer across the community.

“We’re deeply worried about our children’s future. With so few teachers already, transferring an experienced educator will only worsen the situation. The standard of education is bound to collapse,” said one concerned parent.
