Ten shops burnt to ashes at Madhupur market due police’s negligence: MLA Antara Deb Sarkar

Agartala, May 05: Altogether, 10 shops were reported to have burnt to ashes at Madhupur market under Bishalgarh sub-division. Local MLA Antara Deb Sarkar raised allegation of police negligence for the severity of the fire incident.

It is reported that around 4:30 am on Friday morning, ten shops in the market were completely burnt down due to a terrible fire. It is believed that the fire started from an electrical short circuit. It is learned that two doctor’s chambers along with eight permanent shops in Madhupur Bazar were completely burnt down in this incident.

When the locals saw the fire and started screaming, the locals rushed to the spot and informed the Bishalgarh Fire Brigade. A Fire tender and personnel rushed to the spot on receiving the information. Later, two Fire tenders also rushed from Badharghat and Bishramganj.

Firefighters took long efforts to bring the fire under control. But none of the 10 shops in the market could be saved from the fire.

Antara Deb Sarkar, the local MLA rushed to the spot receiving news. MLA Deb Sarkar expressed strong reaction against Madhupur police station. He said the Madhupur police station staff does not patrol in the market at night. If Madhupur police personnel had been in the market at night, the fire would not have spread so much.

Later, the MLA reported the fire incident to Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Magistrate and Bishalgarh Community Development Officer. Officials of the administration will come and talk to the affected shopkeepers and arrange financial assistance from the government.

MLA Antara Dev Sarkar said goods worth crores of rupees were burnt to ashes in ten shops. This incident created a sensation in the area.
