CM Dr Manik Saha chairs high-level meeting on Manipur issue; Talks with CM N Biren Singh

Agartala, May 05: A high-level review meeting was held on the recent events in Manipur under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Friday. The meeting held at Civil Secretariat which was attended by Chief Secretary JK Sinha, Director General of State Police Amitabh Ranjan and Secretaries of concerned departments.

A detailed inquiry was made about the current status of the students studying in Central Agriculture University, RIMS in Manipur. Director General of State Police and CRPF present in the meeting informed that the current situation in Manipur is normal.Besides, it was also informed that all kinds of security arrangements have been made for the students of Tripura.

After the meeting, Secretary of Disaster Management Arind Bhattacharya, Secretary of DRW of Health and Family Welfare Department Supriya Bhowmik, Secretary of Agriculture Apoorba Roy said this in a press conference organized by the Secretariat on Friday. The officials also said that till now there has been no alarming situation for the students of Tripura staying in Manipur. Efforts have also been started by the state government to keep in touch with the parents of the students.

The state administration is in regular contact with the Manipur government. The state government has launched a helpline number on Thursday. An appeal has been made by the state government not to listen to any kind of rumour.

Meanwhile, CM Dr Saha on Friday evening held an interaction with the parents of Tripura students studying in various institutions of Manipur today at his official residence here.He talked again on telephone with Chief Minister of Manipur N Biren Singh regarding the safe shelter and welfare of the boys and girls of the state. At that time, some parents present also spoke to Manipur Chief Minister.

Manipur CM assured all kinds of assistance from the Manipur government. Singh appealed to the parents not to worry.Besides, the state government is also thinking about bringing back the students of Tripura from Manipur for the time being.
